So this will be the last post i make from Denmark, its weird to imagine going home, i am excited to go back, but don’t want to leave the life i have here.

Firstly i want to thank those involved in my surprise party last night. I thought i had my goodbye party on saturday, and was expecting last night to have a quite one and start packing. But i was very wrong, and the double surprise of my friends picking me up, then walking into a room full of my mates, it was all amazing, and i didn’t see any of it coming.

I also want to thank everyone who has been involved in this year, it has changed my life in so many ways, and i will never forget it.

I know i’ve been a bit lazy with photos, but i’ve been too busy to wait around and load them onto this blog so maybe when i’m home i will get around to get some photos on here of my last 2 or so weeks.

I’m going to miss Denmark, maybe even the weather! haha. But to all of my friends, i hope to see you again, either in Denmark or Australia.

New year

I feel this is the best time to post about it seeing as in australia it is already 2012, but Denmark is still about 11hrs away.

Hate to go all serious but, its been a big year for me, first one out of school, but still not quite the real world. Been living a fantasy here for the past year and my time is almost up, less than two weeks as of today which is scary/exciting.

I’m so grateful for this year and everything to do with it, from traveling to more countries than i can put on my fingers and making friendships that will withstand the distance of time and km’s. It’s wasnt all easy but in the larger scheme of things this year has been such a breeze and i sincerely want to thank all of those involved. Specifically my parents and rotary for making it possible. Thats about it, i wish you all a good new year and i hope it brings as much as you hope it will :)

fun fact: It’s legal to buy fireworks in Denmark for dec/jan, so so soo awesome, you can just go down to hardware store and buy like ‘family packs’ which my family has done. They aren’t quite as big as the ones on sydney harbour bridge, but they shoot up about 100m and give a pretty good light show, i’ll see if i can get some pictures, but im not sure ill be able to use my camera (it is new years ever after all)

which translates to; Christmas lunch! Which means a Christmas party. I have one tonight with the entire senior class from my school, and then a funny danish rapper is playing in our town ‘KIDD’ whos debut album was called ‘Greatest Hits 2011’ so its going to be a really fun night, this party is also marking the start of our school holiday break over Christmas time, so we are free!

And tomorrow night i have a party in a local youth house i guess. These guys are coming to play, its going to be awesome, this place has had so many good live shows over the year and this one is my last so im pretty sad. But The Late Great Fritzicaldos are a good send off!

Cold Goodbyes

So its getting cold here, freezing infact. Kinda cool, little puddles and ponds are freezing over, and we are getting some ice on the roads which isnt that fun. But yeah its been thermals kinda weather, i took a photo at like 8:30ish when the frozen over window was starting to melt at sunrise, yeah, sunrise - 8:30am ish..

Last night was my last rotary meeting with just my club, which was a sad goodbye, these people have changed my life and i’m so grateful. I also recieved a christmas present from them, AND a goodbye present, which are two Royal Guards designed by Kay Bojesen, a famous danish designer, really happy, these will remind me of my year in denmark until im old and grey. I also got an official document and a banner.

Holidays

Yeah so my grade is on like 2 weeks of ‘SRP’ which is essentially like a smaller version of a Thesis in university. So i am on a little vacation, from my stressful year HA!

So now that i have so much time ill hit you guys back home with a christmas update.

So Christmas here is a big deal, there is santa things left right and centre. We receive gifts every sunday for the advent calender leading up to Christmas. I have a calander scratchie that gives me a shot at winning some money, but the coolest part is its getting cool! har har. but seriously the temperature is dropping here, now doesnt get much higher than 4. We have gotten some snow and some hail but it has melted because it has also been raining, but im really hoping for a white christmas, although it isnt that common here, it still can happen, so heres to positive thinking!

So in all this time at home i get to do all kinds of things, including, cook dinner. So i whipped up a ‘may family recipe’ and cooked Schnitzel Parmesan with a few pointers from Dad over skype. And somehow, it worked, and tasted great!

Also recieved a nice and oh so cheesy chrissy card from mum, which was well wishes and reminding me ‘Jesus is the reason for the season’. But it was nice to get a card even though im coming home soon!

Which brings me to the end of this post where i make the point. It is only 1 month until i leave Denmark for an indefinite time, which is scary because i have meet some great people and made memorable friendships. But i know one day ill be back to say hello. But in saying so, im looking forward to the warmth of the coast, i’d rather sweat that shiver!

So thats my big ramble done, ill be posting photos soon of some of the stuff mentioned above.

is the danish word for snow. which fell. today. awesome. so. happy.

So i was in class and the rain turned to hail for a little bit, then turned to snow then back to hail. And that 5 minute window of snow was all i needed to get my hopes up about having a white christmas! so here to hoping!

I also had my last G2G on the weekend, saw some people for the last time this year which was strange, things are really coming to an end :(

I got picked up by my family and we went into an olden days town which was kinda cool and there was some fire twirling entertainment so ill throw up some photos of that.

Thats about it for now, miss you all. x

p.s. the sun gets up at like 7:30 now and sets about 4… winter depression is starting.. haha but i can survive, i’m trying to savor the cold before i fly home hah!

Alirghty so the weather lately has been pretty wild, and bad. Hurricane winds with rain. But that didnt stop SANTA! yewwwww! So he came to the town and threw out candy and turned on the lights for a big christmas tree and spread the holiday cheer!

Then on sunday the winds reached their highest which was pretty gnarly. But i went and saw my little sister play European Handball. and then after that went and saw a soccer match between Aalborg (AaB) and Aarhus (AGF). It was essentially like girly danish version state of origin without as much passion. But still lots of fun to be with the boys and see my first danish football game.

I had my camera with me with all these things so ill post some photos soon. :)

Yeah so today i had to meet at school in the morning at 8am. And today is a frosty 5degrees with over 95% humidity. This means, there was an amazing fog, and still is as i am writing this during class! haha

But yeah i sadly didnt take a photo, but apparently this happens quite often so ill try to catch a snap of it next time. Its amazing, riding to school i couldn’t see more than 25m infront of me, it reminded me of an intro to a cheap horror movie. Also my hair was wet when i finished riding and not from sweat, but just from the water in the air.

As you can see was big news day today! haha.

Oh and now its officially under two months till i fly home. Weird.

So i went and saw the kooks on friday night with two good mates also on exchange in denmark from australia. It was a great concert, so much fun, lots of people in a not-so-big venue so it was a bit more special

This is a picture from the concert. i didnt take it.

then after the concert we had a get together weekend for exchange students in denmark. So we all met up and had a big party/hanging out weekend which was cool, met some new people from other places. It was the last time i would see a few exchange students which was weird because its hard to imagine this year over.

But yeah all in all a great weekend, and many more good times ahead.

So now its soon going to be the two months left mark, kinda freaky.

Lots has been happening lately, last night i gave a big presentation to my rotary club about my entire year, it was strange going through all the things i have done so far. But never fear, there is still more! For example ‘the snow is coming’ on friday, which means Tuborg will release there christmas beer, which i didn’t even know happened!

Also on this coming friday i am going to see the Kooks, live in Copenhagen, i am super excited about that. And also on the weekend we have a big get together so i will meet all the exchange students that came over from USA/Canada/Asia which will be cool.

And not every week is filled like this, but its still great to just hang out with mates, esspecially now that my time is running out! So thats my update for now, i miss you all alot, and can’t wait to enjoy the summer sun with you!

p.s. My lovely mum recorded the radio interview, so ill load that up here too soon, once i figure out how to! :)

So my mum has gone and gotten my town on Aussie radio!

On monday at either 6:30, 7:30, or 8:30am AEST. You should hear the lady mention what the weather is in Thisted, and i guess mention me and all that stuff.
